This will be removed when I have some better things to say.
- It is easy to get wicd from this web page and also direct to Ubuntu Linux users of Jaunty version. I have installed version 1.5.9all on my 2 other versions from the d/l of a "deb" file which works fine with Ubuntu. But first you need to remove the Network-Manager software and that is simple too. I then just clicked on the wicd package and the "deb" installer came up and it was installed.
I had to reboot before I can work with wicd and the small picture of 2 monitors appear on the upper right of the screen. When you have this you can click on it and the Wicd Manager comes up and you can select the WiFi signal you want to use. You will see a small triangle and you need to click on that. This brings up another panel and near the bottom you see a place for your WiFi password. You put that in and click on automatic use and it will start your Internet just moments after your computer comes up.
