Wicd is the default networking configurator for the IYCC.net Distribution, and as such, it is installed in every IYCC computer that has a desktop GUI.
On IYCC systems, Wicd works best together with the following packages:
- iycc-desktop: Depends on a standardized list of IYCC-recommended packages to install.
- iycc-blacklist: Keeps off of your system packages that don't play well with others. Among other evil software, iycc-blacklist conflicts with Avahi, Network-Manager, libnss-mdns, and dhcdbd.
- ifmetric: Should be installed on EVERY Debian-based system (see, e.g., RFC 1354, RFC 1122, RFC 1349), but strangely isn't on most.
You can install Wicd and other packages from the IYCC repository either by: (1) replacing your sources.list with the IYCC sources.list, or (2) moving the IYCC sources.list to /etc/apt/sources.d.
The IYCC sources.list may be downloaded from: http://mirror.iycc.net/apt-lists/sources.list
