After a two month wait, 1.3.4 testing has been released Very Happy

You can grab it off the SourceForge download page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=233390 Since it is a testing release, it isn't available through apt, so you'll have to get the deb.

It includes a bunch of new features, bug fixes, and translations.

Have at it, report bugs, and have fun Razz

Um...

you can see what was changed by looking at revisions in the SVN

Other then that, I'm afraid we don't have one.

But a basic overview of the new features would be:

Adhoc networks
Improved wired network connecting
Translations
Ability to run scripts before/after connect
Global DNS servers
Ralink support
Slightly improved encryption support

Mine is actingly really wonky, too. Essentially it freezes and acts unresponsive, but it still somehow manages to connect.

I'd post the log, but I'm running Gutsy and I've lost both the terminal and gedit. Which could just mean that it's Gutsy. FWIW.

Works fine on Ubuntu Feisty. But still doesn't remember the hidden essid of my network. Wicd finds the file for the MAC of my wifi router in the encryption/configurations folder (the file contains the right essid), then tries to connect but fails because apparently it has not managed to set the essid before with the iwconfig command. The problem though may be related to the wireless driver (madwifi) or the kernel because actually two networks instead of one are listed both in wicd and iwlist after the right essid is set with iwconfig or the "Hidden network" option in wicd. Both networks show identical parameters, including the MAC number, so maybe wicd chooses the wrong one during autoconnect. Just guessing.
