When I turn on my notebook at home I always find more than 10 networks. Just two of these are mine.
When I turn on my notebook at office I always find more than 15 networks. Just three of these are mine.
When I turn on my notebook anywhere I need to survey, I always find more than x networks. Just a few of these are mine.
I would like to "disable" not interesting networks (I think it's worth blacklisting APs' mac address, not SSID) just to keep clean wicd gui display.

Is it a hard request? I tried to write some code but my Python knowledge is so low....

Wicd and USB modem UMTS support

Hi,
I don't know if it's possible in someway to use a HDSPA/UMTS connection by USB modem with the last release of Wicd, but with mine, under Ubuntu (1.5.8), it cannot see my USB modem nor HDSPA connection.

With the standard Network manager I can connect in easy way.

Can you insert this kind of connection automatic and in easy way?

Thank you ;)

Anyway, good job.

Hi,

From this link:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/does-wicd-support-multiple-connections-one-wired-and-one-wireless-711856/

it seems that as from version 1.6 on there should be support for multiple connections at the same time (wired and wireless).

I would like to know if it is already implemented or there are any plans. If it is implemented how can it be configured?

CU

P.S.: I just moved to wicd and I also face a problem after having my wired network down for a while it seems to hang an never get back up. Using Ubuntu 10.04 64 bits

Dear all:

I seem to be having "disconnects" from my wireless network where I stay connected but am unable to ping any hosts,

I would like to make a simple cron script that checks for this and reconnects.

Is there a clean way to tell wicd to reconnect?

How about sudo /etc/init.d/wicd restart?

I am on Ubuntu 8.04 amd64

misha@misha-d630:~$ dpkg -l | grep wicd

Problem 1
When I try to connect to my wireless router, wicd is not connecting for some reason. Below is the output in the log.

Clicking refresh doesn't list any of the available access points or networks.

It's impossible to scan for new networks.

Problem 2
If the wireless network fails to connect and I then try plugging in the ethernet cable wicd doesn't automatically recognise the ethernet and try connect using the eth0 device. I have to manually right click the tray icon and then it scans and finds the wired connection.

I'd appreciate any help on this.

Hi,

this is probably an issue with changes in the network stack in Karmic Koala rather than wicd as such but I will post here in case someone else has experienced this and has found a workaround.

In the office where I use my laptop it is not uncommon to get disconnected from the wireless network. Using wicd on Jaunty, I could just reconnect after a short break. Sometimes I would manually kill wicd-client and restart the wicd daemon if a simply reconnect wasn't working.

Under Karmic something has changed. When I get disconnected now, I just can't get back online unless I reboot my laptop. Even killing wicd-client and the daemon and restarting them doesn't fix it.

I am using the lastest wicd deb package available (1.6.2). Anyone have any thoughts on this?
