PPTP support is planned for a future release, but it might be a little while before that happens.

Thank you! It is gratifying to hear that you plan to work on pptp. We use your program wicd in the distribution  MOPS Linux. Wicd perfectly performs its functions for working with wireless networks, but unfortunately does not work with the pptp. Our distribution is based on Slackware, and KDE 4, there was no Network Manager, and the only way to configure VPN - Manual editing of configuration files. I want you to know that support for pptp in wicd will be a very popular feature.

I also would like to manage PPTP- and OpenVPN-connections in wicd-curses or maybe its possible to place some "scripts" in wicd-curses which starts an VPN-connection?
